The folks at Passion have done it again with the album, “Take It All”. With this album there are several tracks that are sure to work in any congregation. While much focus in the modern worship landscape gets put on Bethel, Elevation, and the likes. Tomlin, Redman, Crowder, and Co. continue to produce congregation centered worship that inspires and raises the name of Jesus high. While the album is not ground breaking and follows the same formula as previous Passion albums (if the wheel isn’t broke don’t fix it), it is set up to introduce new music from some of our favorites. Mr. Crowder has the highlight for me on this album, “Come As You Are” brought me to tears when I heard it.
With that, here is a breakdown of the album for you and your team:
Don’t Ever Stop // I would have to go back and confirm this, but I believe every Passion album opens with a big Tomlin number. “Don’t Ever Stop” is no exception, a great opening number and I think it could be a good fit in most congregations.
Never Gonna Let Me Go // Kristian Stanfill brings it on this song. I would expect this song to get some rotation in churches. It has a great theme of “”Your love is never gonna let me go”. The cadence of the song makes it fun and easy to sing. Highly recommended.
Let It Be Jesus // If “Waiting Here For You” was a song that worked in your church, this song will be a great fit. This is a beautiful ballad that proclaims the power of Jesus.
At The Cross (Love Ran Red) // I tend to always find songs for Easter after Easter. The song is very simple in its lyrics and has that classic Tomlin stamp.
I Am // You may be familiar with this song, Crowder released this late last year. It is great to hear this in a live setting. I see this song being a great fit for most churches. A wonderful theme and a great bridge that can go on and on.
My Heart Is Yours // This is one of the songs that Passion is pushing as a “featured song”. The song is really good and has great heart. It starts with offering yourself to God and giving yourself to Him. It then takes a great turn by incorporating “I Surrender All (All To Jesus)” into the song.
Almighty // Another Tomlin number. In this song I like the lyrics, they are very vertical and declarative of how great and powerful God is.
You Came To My Rescue // A great Holy Spirit filled song. There is a lot of energy to get your church clapping their hands and praising. You will find a tasteful use of synths here as well.
Mercy // Here is Matt Redman bringing “Mercy”. This song follows the traditional formula of starting really soft and growing midway through leading to a big chorus that repeats and then soft again. All in all it is a good song.
Come As You Are // As I mentioned earlier, this song is the standout to me. So powerful and filled with vulnerability that speaks directly to the heart. It would be a great song to have over prayer or in a small group.
Worthy // Out of the two Redman songs, I think this one is the stand out. It has a little more meat to it and the lyrics are something I can envision a congregation grabbing on to.
I found every track on the album to be very church and congregation friendly. All in all this is a great album to share within your ministry. I think you will find songs to sing in your service and songs you can use in your pre/post service mix.
