Kari Jobe - KariJobe_Majestic_CoverKari Jobe brings us another great album full of new music for the church.  Be sure to check out our podcast interview with her!  We’ll jump right in to the song breakdown.  Remember that our worship reviews are here to give you the perspective of a worship leader looking to incorporate new music.  Let’s get to it!

Hands to the Heavens // The chorus and the bridge for this opening song are really easy to catch on to.  I love the lyric for the bridge which invites the Holy Spirit to move.

Come like a rushing wind.  Come light the fire again.  Come like a burning flame.  Have Your way.  Have Your way.

Breathe on Us // This song has great forward momentum that your congregation will want to clap along with.  Hands to the Heavens invites the Holy Spirit to come in like wind and fire, this song asks for God to breathe.  The bridge instructs the crowd to raise their hands in praise.  It’s always a good opportunity to have your church members sing about the actions they take in worship.  Give it a try and watch how many hands are raised.

Only Your Love // I get a U2 vibe from the intro guitar riff, followed by a driving rhythm section.  The whole song declares the greatness of God’s love with the culmination of singing Ephesians 3:18 about how deep and wide God’s love is.  Our church always needs to be reminded of the love of God.

Keeper of My Heart // Hey!  There’s a tasty acoustic guitar arpeggio going on throughout this song!  As a guy who sometimes get jealous of all the fancy stuff the electric guitar players do, I’ve gotta say you need to give your acoustic player a chance to work on something!  Personal preference aside, the chorus is really catchy and speaks the truth of Psalm 121.  We can lift our eyes to our Creator.

Always Enough // Our first ballad of the album and it gives some great moments for spontaneous worship.  I love the bridge:

If I have You, I have everything but without You I am nothing. @karijobe

Forever // Chances are you’ve probably already at least heard this song if not introduced it to your congregation.  In our interview with Kari she mentioned that this was the most powerful song of the live recording.  The prechorus sings such a powerful truth:

Now death where is your sting our resurrected King has rendered you defeated. @karijobe

How Majestic // This song moves to declaring power in the name of Jesus.  When we know who Jesus is we have a better perspective of who we are.  He can overcome what we’re up against.

When You Walk in the Room // This is a great example of spontaneous worship to share with your team.  I’d recommend practicing this one with your team if you want to begin moving them to a place of free form worship.  Kari picks back up in to the chorus of “How Majestic” at the end of this track.

I Am Not Alone // Starting out somber and piano driven, “I Am Not Alone” declares the truth of God being near to the brokenhearted.  It can be easy to forget that there are people in our congregation who are dealing with dark valleys every week.  This song could be the comfort they need.

Holy Spirit // Cody Carnes leads this great song originally by the Torwalts.  Always been a big fan of this one!

Lord Over All // The chorus incorporates some great driving rhythm and synthesizers.  The whole song builds in to a really powerful bridge which declares that God will deliver us from whatever life may throw our way.

Look Upon the Lord // Kari’s voice really stands out on this one.  She recorded this with Paul Baloche as well but this version gives her Make sure you’ve got the appropriate voice singing this one if you’re going to do it in your church.  There’s a tenderness to her singing that really conveys a deep love for the savior.

Let the Heavens Open // The final track of this album stands out as a powerful invitation for God to move in and through us.  The bridge brings together two parts that work well with each other.
