Man, the guys over at Centric Worship are cranking out some great music for the church. Here’s our worship review for their latest project “Come Alive”
Greater is He // This one is really singable and easy to catch onto. We interviewed Jonathan on last week’s podcast and he shared some great insight into the writing of this song. The lyrics for this one sing out the truth that God is greater than whatever may come against us. There are people in your church service that need to be reminded of this truth.
Consume Us // Another simple anthem that invites God to come take control. Corey Voss wrote this one and you can check out our interview with him here. I dig the prechorus a lot, the melody just sticks with you and I think most churches will catch onto it really easily. The bridge gives a great chance to build. One thing to think through when you plan this song is to make sure your drummer is paying attention. The groove isn’t difficult but it would be easy to ignore the nuance that really helps drive this song.
Come Alive (Dry Bones) // Lauren Daigle leads this one and man does it hit. I love the mellow vibe for this one. Make sure that you have a strong female leader for this. Also, as a careful worship leader, spend some time reading Ezekiel and get into why you’re having your church sing about having dry bones come alive.
Come Lord Jesus // Henry Seeley brings this one and the song is just packed with sound theology that’s easy to catch onto and sing. The bridge is fun chance to work on your head voice if you’re up to it. Henry has a huge range so purely from a practice standpoint, you could learn a lot by trying to sing all of the lines and ad libs on this track.
You Have My Surrender // Lauren Daigle leads this song about giving our cares and burdens to the One who is bigger than them. The chorus is really powerful for any congregation. More than just saying “I surrender” it starts out by singing that we can take God at his word, knowing that he will be faithful and take care of us. There are people in our services every week who show up and don’t feel like they can give their cares to God. Use this one as a reminder to them that they can trust.
More and More // BJ Putnam leads this track and brings a different vibe than the rest of the album. You’ve gotta make sure your voice is up for hitting the high notes on this one. You may want to woodshed this one for a while. The bridge is really easy catch and a lot of fun. Only warning on this one is that your team needs to be sharp, there are a lot of nuances on this one that could easily be missed.
Worthy is the Lamb // This track was on their previous release as well. Simple, easy to sing, great imagery about ascribing glory to the lamb who was slain for our sins. Solid stuff.
Be sure to snag this EP. Would love to hear which songs you’re doing in your service.
