Welcome to the music of Casting Crowns.
The new album “Thrive” is the latest installment from the CCM group based out of Alanta, GA, and they are known for packing songs with strong, theological statements and gospel-centered music. They stay true to their art form, creating a beautiful mix of worship & musical influences to bring us to the heart of worship. I’m excited to share with you some of my favorite songs from the new project:
Thrive: As the title song to the new album, this song really portrays the over musical maturity that Casting Crowns now offers compares to their older records. With a folky, laid back approach, this song is packed with a great melody, lyrics, and feel. Probably my fave in the record.
Heroes: This song brought me back to the first few songs we ever heard from CC. Great, upbeat feel, and Mark really let’s his rock voice come out on this song.
Follow Me: Another favorite from the new record. Great feel, and tremendous words. If I were you, I’d check this one for a time around your invitational time.
Waiting on the Night To Fall: Musically, this song is genius. Incredibly strong vocals with a powerful message. One of my faves on the new record.
Pros: They stay true to who they are. They know what they are good at, and they continually build upon that platform. Many would say that the level that their music they released with “Come to The Well,” was the top of their musical careers. Thrive proves all those critics wrong.
Cons: It Yes, it is just as good as “Come to the Well,” but it almost sounds just like it. A little too much for my taste. Being a worship leader, I’m always looking for songs that I can lead my congregation with. Casting Crowns has never been a group where you could run to for a strong congregational song (not that that is a bad thing), so it’s not a record I’ll be wearing out any time soon. However, Casting Crowns is amazing at what they do – and this records proves they just keep getting better at their craft.
