We can always count on some great music for the church from Leeland and their latest recording “Christ Be All Around Me” doesn’t disappoint. Here’s a breakdown of the album with some recommendations for your team.
God With Us (You Are Emmanuel) // The instrumental just after the chorus is really catchy. If you have a church that is in to singing “Whoa’s” then this will be a fun one to introduce. Thematically, there are great truths about how God’s power over sin and his presence in our lives. It’s so easy to forget that the God of the universe lives in His children. You can use this song to help your congregation recognize the closeness of Christ.
Christ Be All Around Me // The title track for this album features David and Leslie of All Sons and Daughters. “Above and below me, before and behind me” is such a simple and powerful lyric that tells us the truth of Christ’s presence in our lives.
We Are Returning // Yet another great bunch of “whoa’s” to be sung. The chorus will really stick in the ears of your people. The whole song has a great driving beat. I’ll be introducing this one as an opening song at my church soon.
Refresh Me // Do you take the time to talk to the people coming in to your church on Sunday morning? I’m always overwhelmed by the difficulties that many people are facing as they show up in church. We’re ready to start off the set and we expect people to jump up, shout, and sing along. Sometimes we need to help them just set aside the hurts of the week. “Refresh me” is a great song for this. There’s so much value in recognizing the power of God in our lives and his ability to give us a fresh heart.
All-Consuming Fire // “I know I was created to be loved and overtaken.” Amazing to think that God created us to be loved by Him and to love Him.
Where You Are // James 4:8 tells us that God will draw near to those who draw near to Him. Starting simple and contemplative “Where You Are” helps get your mind on God. It builds to a powerful that sings “holy holy holy.”
This whole EP would be a great addition to your repertoire.
What songs will you be introducing to your congregation?
