Now I’ve Seen is about looking back and seeing God’s faithfulness.
Inspired by a conversation I had with a recovering addict and gang member.
He shared with me how he found Christ. He said something in our conversation that floored me. He said – ”You know what, man – after all the crap I’ve been through I wouldn’t change it. I wouldn’t change it because now I’ve seen, now I know how real God is. I don’t think I would have ever known God the way I do now without what I went through.” – What moved me was when he said “I wouldn’t change it…because now I’ve seen, now I know how real God is.” – So awesome. All the pain and chaos he went through is what actually made the joy he found in Christ that much greater, that much deeper, that much more meaningful.
With the conversation still fresh in my mind – the next day I started singing out these words “Now I’ve seen the Glory of Your name….” Because I was so moved by this guys story the song only took me few hours to write. I was just excited to worship God with these words and thats what made it easy to write.
Using This Song in Church
It’s a heartfelt “all-seasons” song. Encouraging worship in any and every circumstance. It encourages us to do what Psalms talks about – “remember”, “look back” and “not forget” about what God has brought us out of. Remember His faithfulness.
I’ve had a many people come up to me and say thank you for giving me words to sing through this tough time in life. I’ve heard people say its given them a new perspective on their circumstance. It’s given them a heart of hope and thankfulness even in the trials. So cool to see.
