Well…it’s over.

The rehearsals, the sound checks, all 5 songs in your set – it’s done.

NOW is when things get tough.

I don’t know about you, but I have this love/hate relationship with Monday mornings. It’s my day off. I sleep in, grab a cup of coffee, sit down and start watching the services from Sunday.

And if I hear one wrong note, see one wrong slide, or see someone not leading correctly, I end up thinking the whole thing was a waste.

See, here’s the thing: I can easily tell myself that everyone done was in vain. And as the worship leader at your church, I’m expecting that you are the exact same way. Here’s a few ways you can recover from your worship service yesterday:

1. Don’t Sweat it. It wasn’t that bad. You see, you’re a perfectionists. You see other churches who have a entirely paid worship staff with state of the art equipment. You try to replicate that (which is great), and when you don’t achieve that, you feel like you’ve lost. Those people who you were leading could care less about what another church is doing – and to be honest, they probably have no clue what another church’s worship service was like. They were moved by the service. And stop beating yourself up for being a perfectionist.

2. Learn From Your Mistakes. But….those notes you missed – that one wrong slide – that weird thing you saw on stage – get rid of them, so you never have to deal with that again. Fix your problems, but don’t dwell on them.

3. Relax…you’re gonna need too. Listen, today is your day off. This is your day to be able to disconnect from everything that happened and enjoylife. Do something you typically wouldn’t do. Chill out. Don’t do too much. Because tomorrow, it’s back to the grind.
