“Go home, do all these things, become a greater ministry, see you next year!”
… is exactly what you hear at the end every single conference you go to.
So that’s what I do. I’m on the plane going home, I pull out my notebook from the conference, full of ideas, new equipment to buy, things to do, etc…. and then slowly realize that there is no way I can do any of this.
I don’t have the budget.
I don’t have the manpower.
I don’t have the equipment.
I don’t have the time.
Now please, don’t get me wrong; in no way am I saying that other conferences like seeds, Gateway Conference, or The National Worship Leader conference are anything but amazing, practical, and relevant for the local church. They speak wisdom, guidance, and vision into the people that are attending. But when it comes to practicality, they essentially talk to those people who have the same mega-church budget as themselves.
You see, I work in a small church. That means small budget, small volunteer staff, and not enough time to do all 30 things on your job schedule. My job title is Worship Pastor, tech director, creative director, media director, and production manager.
Essentially, I’m the music, media, and creative guy. I’m that guy with a small budget, and I’m the only guy at my church that does this full time.
And that’s exactly why we created Create Day.
Create Day is a free one day worship, media, production and creative arts conference that is aimed at helping you reach huge goals with a small budget and being one or two man team. This conference is perfect for you if you are
- the only worship guy on staff
- Have a annual budget less that $5,000
- feel like you’re in over your head
- not sure what the next step to getting better might be
Here’s a few things you can expect at Create Day.
It’s going to be small.
We’re not expecting that many people. 50 – 200 at the most. You’re going to walk into a old sanctuary that we have slowly started renovating with new lighting, screens, etc.
It’s built around community.
The people around you are the in the same field as you: they feel the same stress, the deal with the same issues, and they have the same passion as you. This is a chance for you to connect with like minded worship & creative arts guys. Get in your hearts, give them hug, and make a bond that will last a lifetime.
It’s laid back.
Look, we’re nothing important. We aren’t some big mega church with a beautiful green room (although that wouldn’t hurt at all). We know we don’t know as much as those guys you paid $200 to go see last year at a conference in Texas or California. But we feel like we know what’s working for us, so we want help resource you in the right ways as much as possible. Wear some jeans, grabs some coffee, sit back and just soak it all in.
It’s extremely practical.
Our main sessions aren’t just a inspirational message or a means to get you energized; the main sessions are things you’re dealing with; how to run LED lights without a light director, how to lead a small congregational in massive worship, how to get creative in small tight spaces….things like this. And for those of you who are coming from bigger churches (1000+) we believe that even these sessions will help you as well.
You get free coffee, snacks, and lunch.
Enough said. Go sign up.
Like I said above, we’re no experts. But this community that is building around Create Day is bigger than just my church and my team putting on this conference. This is a group effort, and we believe this will be a help to you and your ministry.
Create Day is on June 17th, located in Las Vegas NV.
